It is only expected that Raipur, the state capital, becomes the second Indian city to welcome Padel. InPadel, in collaboration with Racketlon are setting up their first Padel court outside Bangalore.

What does this mean for Raipur, and for the rest of the country ?

Padel provides a large number of adult professionals an opportunity of a healthy pastime. In a world where gadgets and TV are turning adults and kids alike into couch potatoes, Padel provides an opportunity for all age-groups to come out and enjoy a fun game as a social unit, without the risk of fatigue or injury. It provides the kids yet another sport that they could aim to represent India in.

Specifically, Padel would provide the women of Raipur a great way of making fitness a part of their life within their schedule and budget. It would provide women a fun and addictive route to fitness, in the company of their friends and social circles. Padel would, in no time, become the favourite choice of women for unwinding and letting it go without exhausted. The downside of most other fitness regimes are that they get very expensive or exhausting or monotonous or lonesome. Padel is the perfect anti-dote to all of these.

It provides a host of other subsidiary businesses to flourish. Padel, being a social sport, is often clubbed with food courts and bar counters. It provides the sports equipment merchants to open up a completely new line of business. It provides event organizers to come together and organize family, social and corporate events around Padel.

It offers the residents of Raipur an opportunity to create outstanding professional Padel players who could easily compete at the international level, as there is little competition in the country right now. It gives sports event professionals to organize professional Padel leagues.

Like any outstanding product, Padel has the potential to not only bring success to itself but carry through it a large number of businesses and individuals along with it.

This brilliant move by the visionary young entrepreneur, Abhishek Artwani of Racketlon and the promising partnership between InPadel and  Racketlon is all set to transform the face of sports in Raipur,  Chhattisgarh and the whole of the eastern India. “With so many games already so popular, and India doing well in a lot of them off-late, why should we invest in Padel infrastructure ?” is a question that is often asked by a lot of sports promoters with an interest in promoting sports infrastructure. With already so much out there, why risk in a completely new sport ?

The infrastructure vs ROI/profits is a perennial chicken-and-egg problem, in any business. An investor is always in a dilemma whether to first retrieve the ROI from one investments, generate sufficient profits, and then go for more ? Or go ahead and install more courts and let the sports promotion take its own course ?

The answer lies somewhere in between. Of course, one would not recommend openings courts indiscriminately – but any product requires a critical volume of infrastructure before it really enters the phase of a chain reaction.

Lack of sufficient infrastructure allows for very few people to be able to avail of the facility and more often than not, a large number of people would be turned away consistently – resulting in gradual loss of interest and switch over to those games which have sufficient infrastructure all around.

Imagine conducting a corporate party at a location with just one court. It accounts for longer waiting times for people before they get their chance to play, and the whole event ends up dry because of this. On the contrary, 3-4 courts at the location would have multiplied the fun and would generate the necessary “noise” in the town for more and more corporates to pitch in.

Ditto with conducting a large-scale tournament. The unavailability of courts would become a dampener.

For a sport like Padel, there are few hours in the day with the maximum demand of the court. Early mornings and late evenings are the peak periods in demand. If more and more people find themselves being turned away because of the unavailability of courts, the interest in the game would not be the same as it would be if large number of teams could play parallelly, in the same location, as well as across the town.

A large number of people would also be motivated to play regularly if they find a Padel court in their near vicinity. Having to travel several kilometres at odd hours for an hour of sport may not consistently keep everyone motivated for a long time. Sufficient number of courts spread throughout the town – across all prominent residential and commercial clusters – would inspire more and more people to participate in the sport with more regularity and commitment.

Like a new product, promoting a new sport requires buying much more than leasing real-estate. It requires leasing the mind-space of more and more people. You need to be constantly in sight. You need to compete with other sports for their attention. If people pass by Padel courts more frequently, and watching those fast-paced rallies and spectacular shots, they would be more inclined to stop by and watch the game. One day, they would want to enter the court and play it themselves. And as the reputation of padel goes – once somebody gets in – they would never go away.

Padel is catching across the world like a wild fire. The entire Europe is totally consumed by this fire. There is absolutely no reason why India would be left out of a global wave of this magnitude. At some point of time, Padel is going to be a big big business in India.

Why not take the leap of faith and seize the day ? The more buzz we create with a large number of Padel courts all over the major cities at all prominent locations, with a constant flurry of activities – playing, coaching, tournaments, corporate events, social events, family get-togethers – the whole country will be abuzz with Padel-mania in no time.

Upon registering for the InPadel League, you will then be eligible for local and national rankings. Your rating will then be recorded to your InPadel account on our Website and Mobile App. This will allow participants to begin arranging games with other players according to their ranking and skill levels, at the desired court locations.

The league organisers will present a ‘Player of the Week‘ award to the best player of each Gameweek. The player will then receive an additional point in the ranking system.

This League is a circuit of open tournaments grouped by categories for both amateur and semi-professional players, male and female. The League is aimed at both; performance players wishing to compete at a top level and social addicts seeking some competition play. All competitions of the League are open to any nationality upon registering their details through the website. Players will be included in a systematic ranking system.

Team and Player Ranking System

InPadel Sports Ranking System (ISRS) has been designed to provide a standardised reference for all aspects of amateur and professional play. The league matches will be held across these 2 venues every week. The Tournament Director will decide the venue for each match.

• Create an Account on inpadel.in (One Account for every player)
• Proceed to Register your Team on inpadel.in/league
• To participate in the tournament, you will have to compete the registration by 18/09/17. The League will commence from 22/09/17 onwards.
• Offline payment of registration fees (Cash/Card/Paytm)
• The full fee has to be paid on or before the last registration date (18/09/17).

League Format 

• 10 Teams. (9 games per team guaranteed)
• Pro-Am League (Professional & Amateur players)
• Both men, both women and mixed category allowed.
• The Bottom 2 teams will be demoted to the 2^nd Division League.

The format of the preliminary tournaments is as follows:

• Matches to be played to the best of 3 sets.
• Players can only represent one team and will not be allowed to change teams, unless approved by the Tournament Director.
• The Bottom 2 teams will be demoted to the 2nd Division League.

Team Points 

• The Team who wins 2 sets out of a possible 3, wins the match.
• 1 point will be awarded for every set won.
• For example, if Team A beats Team B (2-0), A will be awarded 2 points and 0 points for B. If Team A beats Team B (2-1), A will be awarded 2 points and 1 point for Team B.
• The points and ranking of each team will be updated on our Website and App as the tournament progresses.

Player Points/Ranking 

• The same system will be applicable as Team Points.
• The winning players from each team will be awarded the same number of points.
• The points and ranking of each player will be updated on our Website and App as the tournament progresses.
• The league organisers will present a ‘Player of the Week‘ award to the best player of that Gameweek. The player will then receive an additional point in the ranking system.

Terms & Conditions

• Rackets and balls provided

• The full entry fee has to be paid on or before the last registration date (18/09/17).

• Non marking sports shoes are Mandatory
• Refreshments will be provided to all participants
• Full refund on registrations before 18/09/17.
• No refund on registrations after 18/09/17
• The venue for each round of the league will be decided in advance by the Tournament Director. Due to any reason, if a team/player won’t be able to attend the round due, the match can be preponed to an earlier agreed date.
  Note: Matches will be not be postponed under any circumstances, unless approved by the Tournament Director.
• If a team fails to show up for the match, the opposite team will be awarded a ‘’bye’’. This will enable them to progress to the next round.
• In the case of other interruptions due to poor weather, traffic etc., a maximum wait time of 30 minutes is applicable for teams/players, after which, a ‘’bye’’ will be awarded to the team that is present.
• InPadel Sports will not be responsible for any loss, theft, injury/damage to a player during the tournament.
